Rob Hatch from Chattanooga broke an Amateur World Record at the Stone Mnt. Highland Games Oct. 19, 2008 in Atlanta. Hatch stunned the crowd with a sheaf toss (right) of 36' 2" ousting the old record by 1". The sheaf toss is one of 7 events the athletes compete in at Highland Games. He is shown at the left tossing the caber, another one of the seven events. Hatch is a Highland Athlete who is the president of the Scottish Throwers Association and associated with Appalachian Celtic Connection, Inc.

On Saturday, May 9, 2009, the Ringgold Highland Games were a huge success. The Games were hosted by Radio Station WAAK 94.7FM, Marshall M. Bandy Jr., PC and the Appalachian Celtic Connection, and were located adjacent to the law offices. The Appalachian Celtic Connection booth was visited by many people who were interested in finding out about their ancestry.
The Celtic Band, Ealaionta (pronounced Ah-lee-ahn-tah), from Chattanooga performed all day. Also, the Elijah James band was a hit with the crowd.
